LPN (PRN, All Shifts)

Position Purpose

The LPN is responsible for:

  • Providing direct patient care to patients
  • Supervising care treatment and services of patient care provided by CNA’s, and NT’s
  • Following an individual plan of care for each patient
  • Assessment and re-assessment of patients
  • Communicating appropriate information with the interdisciplinary team
  • Reporting patient concerns and changes in condition to supervisor and/or physician in a timely manner

Position Requirements

License or Certification:

  • Current Louisiana State licensure as a LPN
  • CPR Certification (ACLS preferred)

Total Education, Vocational Training and Experience:

  • One year experience in a comprehensive medical/surgical hospital setting preferred
  • Critical care experience in a hospital setting preferred

Machines/Equipment Used:

  • Clinical equipment used for patient care (see skills check list)
  • General office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer

Physical Requirements:

  • Visual acuity and ability to communicate sufficiently to conduct safe patient care duties
  • Ability to lift, lower, push, pull and retrieve objects weighting a minimum of 30 pounds, which includes participating in patient mobility activities

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend English
  • Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions and meet deadlines in a detailed-oriented manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both writing and verbal arenas
  • Ability to work independently without supervision
  • See attached skills check list

Environmental Conditions:

  • Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke-free environment
  • Exposure or potential exposure to blood and body fluids may be required
  • Handicapped accessibility
  • May work at times under stressful circumstances

Productivity Standards:

  • May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and/or night shifts if needed
  • May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays on scheduled shifts
  • Will be required to work as necessary during disaster situations until relief arrives
  • Regular attendance and reporting to work on time is a requirement of the position
